Support for Foster Parents

Each foster home is supported by Payukotayno: James & Hudson Bay Family Services financially, professionally, and through training as it becomes available.

Financial Assistance

Foster families receive a daily non-taxable reimbursement for children and youth residing in their home to cover the cost of food, shelter and other living expenses.  As well there are clothing and recreational allowances which vary according to the age of the child.  Health and dental coverage is provided by Payukotayno: James & Hudson Bay Family Services.

Professional Support

Each foster family is supported by a Foster Care worker and has access to the agency 24 hours a day (during off hours, there is an On Call Services in place for emergencies).  As well, there is a Foster Parent Association which provides support and a network of families with mutual interests.

Training

The agency recognizes the importance and benefits of ongoing training; it offers workshops and courses to enhance the knowledge and expand child-related skills for foster families based on availability.
